Over the years, I've developed a real supersitition when I go away somewhere. I don't tell anyone I'm going anywhere, until I've returned. Reason being, ironically, there's been times I've told someone I'm going somewhere, far in advance, and it got cancelled. This way, it saves me the embarrassment if it's get cancelled. And I feel telling people in advance can sabotage the trip!
I like it better that way! "You didn't tell me you were going here or there, what a suprise!
Hitches? I always go that stress everytime I plan to go somewhere, that some hitch is going to come up the very last minute!
No matter how ready I think I am to leave the house, just as I start down the stairs I think of something really important that I forgot. It never fails!
Heave a wonderful trip, Mr. and Mrs. Jezer! I'm so glad to hear that your daughter is doing better. While you're gone I will do my best to uphold the high standards of City Data's Peeve of the Day.
The stress right before leaving starts the night before in our home. "SOMONE" does not even start packing until very late at night, and then by midnight he is doing a "last minute" load of wash.
I am saying to myself WE LEAVE AT 5 AM!! Why is he still up at midnight and why didn't he wash clothes before this? Then I end up stressing out. So I have learned to just be quiet and let things go.
Seems like something always crops up at the last minute. Why I like to try and get most everything done ahead of time, so then I only have to focus on the unexpected.
Hoping I covered all the hitches was the one thing that always gave me a restless night's sleep before a trip.

The typical hitch re going away is that I can't sleep the night before so I'm dead tired the day of the big event.
I love those ponies....every time you show pictures of them, I drool. We always had ponies and horses growing up so your pictures bring back fond memories.
Another good peeve, Jezer. I don't travel often, but have a trip coming up in a couple of weeks. And I have to admit, I'm obsessing a little bit about the many last-minute details I'll need to take care of. Once I tie up all the loose ends on the home and work fronts, then I'll be able to relax and forget about everything while I'm gone.
