Hello.
I am considering buying a home in Davenport on US27 (near Santa Cruz subdivision) and possible employment at Northrup Grumman near Winter Park/Maitland area.
What is the average morning/evening commute time to and from?
I've lived in this area before but my commute was to MacDill AFB in Tampa.
How bad is the Orlando traffic?
Thanks for any assistance.
John

Just shoot yourself now.

First, I can't suggest Davenport as a place to live. There's a reason that homes there are cheap, and it's not because sellers are nice and want to give you a good deal.

Traffic on I-4 through downtown Orlando is worse than traffic on I-4 to Tampa. Far worse. I'd expect at leat a 90 minute commute each way--if there's an accident (regularly) or bad weather add another 30 minutes to that.

There are far more convenient places to your work place that are as nice or nicer than Davenport with homes that are equally affordable. I'd look in Apopka, Altamonte Springs, Wikewa Springs, Deland, or Oveido.

Thanks for the quick reply. Orlando traffic sounds like a nightmare.
I was only considering the Davenport area to be near family.
I was also considering employment in the Tampa area (MacDill AFB) but the commute is about the same as Orlando.
Ultimately, I would like to be as close to Davenport as possible.
Thanks again for the suggestions. I'm considering all options.
John

There are plenty of nice places and homes in Davenport. There are also some less desirable areas.

That said, the commute through downtown to Winter Park would kill me. I've driven it at rush hour a few times and will do everything in my power to never do it again.
