Well, since it's been a month on, I think I owe y'all an update! The first half of the road trip went along swimming! I actually didn't see ANY officers except....you guessed it, Kiowa! Those revenue generators were sitting right there in their hidey holes and one of them (in the Chevy Tahoe) chased after someone in an attempt at revenue generation. Quite sad, in my opinion. We'll see how it goes on the way back. Wish me luck!!

And thanks for all your information, y'all!

So, how did the return trip go? Or, are you still in jail?

I got stopped going 5 miles over the speed limit from Whitesboro, which is near Lake Kiowa by a speed trap going to Sherman, I never speed, but this one time and get stopped!

Same here, I am quite careful with the speed on 69. I've seen many pulled over that had past me and maybe going 5 miles over. I guess this is the way small towns pick up a few extra bucks. Even the town out by me a cop sits at the only gas station. It is 40 mile speed limit GOING DOWN HILL after being at 65. You have to ride your brakes is the only way of not getting a ticket.

I got nailed in McAlester like five years ago going down the hill going south into the city, but haven't had a ticket since, and drive that route quite frequently, going down from Okmulgee. There are some speed traps but if you pay attention you should be fine.

In some areas, people can also get a ticket if they flash their headkights to warn other drivers of a speed trap ahead.

Oklahoma may word it differently, however the Flrorida statute says: Illegal Use of Vehicle Lamps - "flashing lights are prohibited on vehicles except as a means of indicating a right or left turn, to change lanes, or to indicate that the vehicle is lawfully stopped or disabled upon the highway or except that the lamps ... are permitted to flash." It should never be done anyway. Speed limit laws are in place with safety in mind, and most police officers tend to be honest, hard working people.

What about telling another trucker that he has a cop just ahead of him on the CB? Should that not be done too?
