I read about that in the paper this morning, about time OKC has a new iconic symbol downtown. It's only been a mere 37 years since the Chase Tower was built

Sounds like a good plan -- read about it in the paper today.

It's hard to believe our skyline will change. I hope it is a pretty building, not just a big box. I'm glad we have great companies like Devon in our city.

Devon says it's supposed to be "iconic" therefore it obviously wouldn't be a box. I love how News 9 did a story on the new skyscraper the evening after it was announced saying it would be a 37 story building. That's taking into account the square footage of the building and if it were built as a perfect square. Which it is not, it's going to be "iconic" not square. Many sources believe it will be close to 50 stories. The tallest in Oklahoma is the Williams Tower in Tulsa at 52 stories, but it's a big ugly box.

Building downtown is making me proud of Devon. I'm sure it would have been cheaper to build out in the NW area.

I don't think the Williams tower is a big ugly box. It's an exact replica of The World Trade Center buildings in NYC. It was designed by the same architect. Also, it may be 52 stories, but that's only because the first floor is so tall.

The actual height of the Williams tower is 667 feet. After that, it would be the city of faith tower, which is just a tad shorter. Now THAT building is ugly...

I do hope they build an iconic skyscraper in OkC. It's long overdue.

This picture is a little out of focus, but I took it from the I-35 I-40 junction bridge as the sun was setting. The Chase Building in the middle, the tallest one, is a big ugly box. The other buildings have more interesting shapes. I hope the Devon building has more interest in its shape.

I'm sure they are going to build something that has some razmatazz to it. To simply build a "regular" looking skyscraper these days with all of the design tools would almost be hard to do. I also hope they use some nifty lighting as well.

It may mimic the WTC, but I still don't see how it's interesting.
