I thought about adding that to the original list.

Good pick.

Well the biggest dump is the city of East Cleveland. It's a small city and directly borders Cleveland, but it is the pits. It has nothing going on compared to the city of Cleveland which has some pockets of nice areas. There may be rougher parts of in the city of Cleveland but as a whole, East Cleveland is worse - 32% live below poverty rate, $12,600 per capita income, large population decline annually. Just google map it and street view just about any street.

I would go with East Cleveland as well. Youngstown wasn't too bad from what I've seen. Reminded me a lot of Mansfield, which isn't saying much, but is nowhere near as bad as East Cleveland.

This should be fun.....so therefore, it is!

It is important to note, that the only cities to really discuss should be the larger ones....populations in excess of 100,000 or 150,000 (city and immediate surrounding area) so , Steubenville doesn't make Caleb's list. Why? It's sucked for so long that it is now a footnote in history right up there with Garfield getting shot. Sure, it's a topic, just not here....

Here goes: David Letterman Style

10) Dayton. Wow, here's a yawner. And now, NCR is coming South. And who can blame them? Beeeeelows beyond measure. Only thing up is crime....

9) Canton. I think the final straw is when the Chinese decided they wanted Hoover too. While Canton has enjoyed a colorful past, this pretty much puts the final nail in the coffin of this once thriving blue collar community. Sucks down Alliance by proxy......

8) Akron. It has it's quirky bright side and a great university.....however, jobs and to live there??? Not so much....from the town that brought, brings you tires and safe sex, the Rubber City is just not all that....anymore......hey, but they DO salt the roads....whether you need them to or not......

7) Cleveland: You just can't dump enough on this town. Roughly 1/2 it's highest population number in the 50's....something like 400,000 or so......one run down segregated area after another. Fun lake activities so long as you are on the WEST side of things.....

6) Toledo. Home of the Mud Hens. And it only goes down from there. The kind of town where dealing crack is now a career opportunity with upward mobility......If you are relying on Jeep, you have already lost.....

5) Cincinnati. Home of the parochial. A place where a fart still passes for front line/top line comedy......

4, 3, 2: Pick 3 of your favorites and I guarantee, you're right....

and for the number 1 suckiest place/town/city in Ohio......off-beat drum roll......

1) Youngstown!!! You bet. While the rest of the country is adjusting to 13+% unemployment, these yaks have endured it since the 70's!!!!!!! If Cleveland, Akron, and Canton suck, this place is a vaccum. I think it's the only place in America where the Chamber of Commerce can actually laugh at at any seriousinquiry as to when they will be pulling in new business and get away with it. Who could blame them? If your favorite struggling Ohio city/town/wide spot in the road is looking to downsize it's spending, look no further than Youngstown. In fact, Youngstown should probably consult on how to do more, with much, much less. They are almost 4 decades strong with experience....and counting....

There is one saving grace. The women. Some beautiful Italian girls running the area. Probably similar to shopping for a bride from Russia. Just pick one and go. Believe me, they are ready. I have to believe an evening at the Olive Garden and they are ready for you to meet the family. Graci!

After that, 1 out of 5 is unemployed and is probably spying you to figure out what morsels they can pick off from you. Just make sure your newly chosen Italian Maven is not connected to the old money mob and you are good to go......

I have lived in many parts of Ohio for all my 43+ years and the Youngstown area where I grew up in is the biggest "dump" by far in the state. The city has less than half the population it did over 50 years ago, the central city is mostly decimated and run down and some of its surrounding towns (Campbell, McDonald, Struthers) have seen better days. Many trashy townships (Coitsville, Weathersfield, Hubbard, Leavittsburg) further detract from any aesthetic the area may have.

The Youngstown area does have its nicer areas such as Canfield, Columbiana, Poland, parts of Boardman, but overall a depressing sight.

Wrong. The OP asked which city has declined the most. East Cleveland never declined... it's always been a s-hole.

Huh? East Cleveland used to be very wealthy at one time. It has most certainly declined
