Gongragulations Knight2009 for finding someone who actually loves you. Especially in a place like this (or even just in general), make sure you appreciate and cherish her, but that doesn't mean completely smother her like a puppy and put her on a pedastal.

Best advice yet. I am married and dated tons of women before I met my wife. And both of the above statements are 100% true.

I would actually put less focus on "dating" if I were you. Focus instead on making friends and enjoying the activities you enjoy. By doing this, you will make connections and friendships that in turn will help you meet women whom you may find something in common with.

And this is important: Before you can have a good relationship with a woman as a girlfriend, you need to be friends with her. I don't mean there shouldn't be mutual physical attraction--there has to be--but if you start every interaction off in this formal dating thing, it puts pressure on the two of you and I think saddles the interaction with all this awkwardness.

Relax, be yourself, try to worry less and enjoy your friends as much as you can. And then one day a nice gal will come out of nowhere. Trust me.

Thank you for the helpful advice and suggestions Carlingtonian!

Lol...although, if you read a later, towards the end of my thread, you'll see that that one sweet, nice special girl has already arrived in my heart and in my life, ever so recently in fact

Default Update

Just wanted to provide a quick update, in case anyone was interested: regrettably, things recently ended with the 1st g/f (to make a long story short, she ended up not feeling as romantically attracted to me as she had initially had been, earlier). It felt extremely hurtful and heartbreaking to lose her at first, but she and I agreed to remain friends.

On the plus side though: may have potentially found someone new, and a new g/f, atm...things are currently looking extremely optimistic. We'll see what happens...anyway stay tuned for more updates soon! lol
