Hi All-
I have been lurking here for a while and thank everyone for the abundance of good info!
In a nutshell: hubby and I are looking for a weekend/vacation second home. Like the idea of a "community" as the amenities are available for the kids, but don't want homes too close together or huge crowds during peak summer weekends.

After reading much, and spending this past weekend looking at a dozen houses in various communities, we have narrowed down our search to Fawn Lake and Pocono Spring Estates.
The most important things on our wish list are:
-not too crowded - don't want to be on top of another home
-some amenities, esp. for the kids (15 & 12)
-within 1/2 hour tops of skiing
-reasonable drive from North Jersey
-good mix of residents - some kids but not overrun with people
-beach
-golf carts allowed if possible

PSE is great, but I really liked the clubhouse & indoor pool for the kids at Fawn Lake. Downside is I am somewhat concerned about the commute to Fawn Lake - we would take 80 to 15 to 206. Don't want to go more than 2 hours tops. Also worried that it's a bit TOO remote (don't want to drive a half hour if we forgot to buy milk!)

Any and all info would be GREAT!! Thank you in advance!

Fawn lake is about 10 mins from skiing. They have a lake and an indoor and outdoor pool. It is kid friendly and very beautiful. If you are big on skiing you might want to look into Mast hope or Tanglewood. Both have Ski areas and you would get better deals if you lived there. Personally I think Fawn lake is much nicer than Pocono springs. Tanglewood would give you skiing in the winter and fun on Lake wallenpaupack in the summer. But if the size of the lake doesnt matter both Mast hope and Fawn lake have lakes to swim and boat on.

Thank you,. Yes, I liked Fawn Lake more than Pocono Springs, even though it will add close to a half hour to the ride from home in NJ. I liked the indoor pool and clubhouse set-up in Fawn Lake, esp. for our 15 & 12 year old girls.

Just found out Hemlcok Farms also has an indoor pool. Does anyone know if it's possible to find homes there without another house directly behind it? DH doesn't want to be relaxing on the deck and have neighbors right there! Any opinions in general on Hemloch Farms? Still waiting to hear if our offer in Fawn Lake will be accepted (fingers crossed!)

I think Pocono Springs is just beautiful. Not too crowded, close to highways, reasonably dues, nice people.
