The bikes would probably be similar to the dockless scooters I saw people riding yesterday in South End. So it seems, central Charlotte has 200 of these scooters so far.

I pretty sure that's not what they have in mind, but who knows.

I'd guess limebike will bring their scooters to the Triangle sooner or later though.

Looks like Greensboro will get Publix distribution center and 1,000 jobs.

Orange and Alamance counties have been ruled out of the sweepstakes for a 1,000 job Publix distribution center, but Greensboro is still in the running.

Officials in Greensboro seeking the same project approved incentives in March, when county commissioners signed off on a package that would refund Publix 80% of the county property tax it would have to pay over the first 10 years of the facility’s lifespan. Given the current tax rate, the value of the incentive is estimated at $17 million.

Ew. But really, every broke clock is right twice a day IMO.

I'm basing my thoughts mostly on Charlotte and DC's bikeshare and random national articles I've casually read. I know it's different than Raleigh's seemingly enhanced one. But I have to side with the nut job on this issue. Embrace the private bikeshare companies.

It sounds like the Crabtree area is getting more residential. Grubb Properties based out of Charlotte has plans to renovate and expand the Sterling Glenwood apartment complex from 254 unites to 493. They also plan to build a parking deck and two 10 story apartment towers.

10 floors? What’s the Height limit of building with wood? If they have to use concrete, IMO just go taller

Not sure but I would imagine they are concrete and steel. Idk what the zoning is like there either, could be the reason for dual 10 floor towers instead of one 20. Or they could just be building what they feel is appropriate for that area. I think that actual location is on Glenwood but south of 440 so not quite right in the hustle bustle mix of Crabtree. There’s a couple office buildings there but a 20 floor tower would probably still seem really out of place. Pretty big residential project nonetheless. The article in ITBinsider said they are approximately 130ft each so it sounds like luxury apartments where as the current Sterling Glenwoods complex they are expanding is not, I believe.

Wood construction is limited to 6 stories or 85feet high.
