North Hills really is impressive, but I can’t help but think how much better it would be with public transit (rail). Raleigh can be a nice city, but it can never be a great city without rail public transit. I think Charlotte is well on its way to becoming a great city. The Gateway to Gastonia has always been ambitious to become a world-class City, and I fully expect it to become just that.

That SNL "Gateway to Gastonia" skit was hilarious!!! Also, it's nice to see Lamelo Ball getting the recognition that he deserves. The young man has definitely earned it. Who knows, but this kid could put the Charlotte Hornets on another level as a franchise and a brand.

I guess that John Kane should have checked with you first, before committing billions of dollars to North Hills Main, NH East and the NH Innovation District. LOL This is the most successful, dense, mixed use development between D.C. and Atlanta.

I think SouthEnd takes that titleby a wide margin

SouthEnd isn't a planned master development by one developer, hence I believe NC Observer was focusing on a single development. SouthEnd is organic urbanization of a neighborhood with multiple developers, influenced by public investment in the rail line. I don't think any one single development within South End by one developer is at the scale of North Hills, but SouthEnd's urbanization as a neighborhood with the collective development by each independent developer is much larger than North Hills.

But it does qualify as mixed use, which is what he stated. I know they're not apples to apples but the end result is the the same. North Hills was a former shopping center while South End was Charlotte's first industrial park

Sounds like you are since you don't really have a rebuttal to them.
