Durham has had a huge past year despite Covid. It'll be interesting to see where Google sets up shop long term. They will temporarily be downtown to start.
Man wow, congratulations to Durham and the triangle, that google announcement is astounding, I have been watching durham grow and explode over the years, and it’s be so amazing to see the transformation of our neighbors to the north.
Here in greensboro, the syngenta corporation just announced plans of a 68 million dollar expansion, the newer facility will support up to 750 employees

Wilmington is going to get a new FBO at its Airport this year (its 2nd)...
"This spring, work is set to start on Aero Center Wilmington, a new fixed base operator being planned on the grounds of the Wilmington International Airport.
Marathon FBO Partners, doing business as the FBO brand Aero Center Wilmington, is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of this year, said Michael Scheeringa, a partner in the new fixed-base operator (FBO).
He is also managing director of SAR Trilogy Management LLC, the majority owner of Aero Center Wilmington and Aero Center Lakeland in Lakeland, Florida. An FBO provides general aviation services, such as fuel, hangaring and aircraft maintanence.
The permitting process for the project is still ongoing, Scheeringa said. Pending permits, plans are to start construction in May."
The Airport has an existing construction project going on (images are in this article)...
A non stop flight to Boston was recently added. There are now non stop flights from Wilmington to Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Charlotte, Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas.
None of that would be untrue if North Georgia was full of medium and small size towns.
I was trying to sound less piercing in y comment that areas around Charlotte weren't exactly cosmopolitan.
Is Atlanta the cultural capital of the South? It's the biggest and most tolerant, but with so many inadequacies compared to other states, I hope it can't export this culture elsewhere.
See current voting restriction proposals, laws against adoptions by gay couples, inadequate road capacity and maintenance.
What I said has zero to do with GA state politics currently.
