Although I don’t understand your point, it makes me curious to see How close DC is to 10 million.

Also curious about the Triad.

While the population of the Triad cities are growing it seems that the Triad CMSA has been hovering around 1.6 million for a long time, at least a few decades. That tells me that population growth in Greensboro and Winston-Salem is either due to annexation or people from other parts of the Triad moving in to those cities.

So a 16% increase in the past 19 years. .84% annual growth rate. Estimated.

5% growth rate in the last 9 years. .55% annual growth rate. Estimated.

90-00 15% growth
00-10 10.8%
10-19 5.9%

There is a significant downward trend.

2008 Recession maybe accounts for some lower growth.

Was Iredell apart of the Triad at some point?

It joined the Charlotte MSA in 2013. Not suprising considering Moorseville has boomed hardcore (mostly around the Mecklenburg border.

It wasnt. The Triad CSA does include Burlington and Mt Airy though.

The population numbers that I provided compare apples to apples, and reflect the CSA boundary as it is today.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that Iredell was part of the Triad at some point and then joined Charlotte's (and in 2013 MSA). It seemed like something that could've caused slower growth had that happened.

Any chance it was part of the Hickory/Morganton MSA?
