I like how negative press is a state burden but positive news is hoarded by Charlotte. Keep it both if it’s all the same to you.

I was referring to CLT1985 bringing up the RNC, not the city itself.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: MUFG) recently opened a new office in Charlotte as part of a plan to establish an eastern U.S. hub and create about 300 jobs here.

The Charlotte office, in WeWork space at 615 S. College St. in uptown, will house MUFG's operations and technology and risk management groups for the Americas.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for MUFG to establish a footprint in the Charlotte market,” said Chris Higgins, chief information and operations officer at MUFG Americas. “This region is known for having a talented labor pool that is skilled in financial services and technology innovation and modernization, and we are looking to invest in this valuable resource."

Higgins also noted Charlotte's proximity to several universities as a reason for opening an office here.

??? Charlotte is where the visitors will come and spend their money, there’s no “positive” or “negative” news. Charlotte, despite being dark blue, is located in a state that went red for the 2016 Election. While Charlotte may be the face of any public backlash, it won’t be singled out from the rest of the state.

Conventions are city boosterism events, always have always will. It was in 2012, it will be in 2020.

In positive news,

It could be announced tomorrow in Orlando that Charlotte will be the next city to score an MLS Team. Tepper will be in Orlando tomorrow also. Tepper also wants to give BofA stadium a retractable roof and be home to the Panthers & MLS.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wso...team/971369981

This comes in addition to the recent news that Ally Bank has decided to be the corporate sponsor for Charlottes MLS team

Also, I think the name of the team could be Mint City Collective or at least have a similar logo and colors. . Here’s the color and logo:

I really hope that turns out to be it. So much better than NCFC IMO

The Ally Bank Charlotte Mint City in Bank of America Stadium with Multiple Bank towers rising above it. Definitely Bank town lol.

Great Long article about light rail coming to Gaston County by 2030:

Snippet below.

Quote:

Light rail expansion to Belmont and beyond

The light rail is coming to Gaston County. The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) approved plans to connect Charlotte to Belmont via rail by 2030. The upcoming Silver Line will begin in Belmont, travel through Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and uptown before ending in Matthews or Stallings. Beginning later this year, a regional transit planning effort will look at expanding the line 10 miles past Belmont and into Gastonia.

IMO, rather the line be heavy rail than light rail.

Slow down grasshopper. Doubt anything happens on the MLS front but who knows. Tom Glick has stated that they view this as a regional team like the Panthers and consider the Triad,Columbia & GSP areas as apart of their extended market, so Carolina will likely be in any name of the team. Also read a interesting interview with Tepper in the SBJ about how Tepper basically wants to make Charlotte the sports and entertainment capital of the Carolinas

Yeah, I just read that same article. It says "The centerpiece of that goal is their fast-moving bid for a Major League Soccer franchise, which they’ll present to MLS owners at the All-Star Game this week." So I doubt the MLS is gonna approve a bid the same day it's presented.

It was just one article that mentioned an announcement and it was vague. But, there is very positive movements for CLT in regards to MLS. I'm surprised at how strong this bid is. The last one was bleh.
