The pine pollen is too coarse to stir up allergies. People are alleric to other types of pollen that are also in the air at the same time.

Pine pollen does look yucky on an automobile - but the rain washes it off, or you can hose it off. Dunno why people make such a big deal about it.

The whole meme of northerners/Floridians moving here and "changing things" has been going on for a long time. I've been hearing about Floridians buying up mountain properties and their slow driving habits since I was a kid in the 1970s. I'll always remember one day on a canoeing trip, there was a car that had rolled down into in the river. We hung around for the tow truck just to read the plates, see if it was Floridian. Yup. It was, to our continued wise-cracking...! The point is, people who move here and do not typify the stereotypes, don't become joke material.

Loose animals? There are stray dogs and cats anyplace that people live. Maybe some counties are poor, and spend very little on animal control. But you could say the same of just about any state.

Amendment One. And going along with that, rampant intolerance that can be found throughout the state.

Amendment One, too much fried and sweet food (unhealthy), a conservative legislature, and pollen.

-Pollen coating the car like a green cake? I have allergy problems here, but not as bad.
-Yankees not welcome, well I am a Yankee, but I lived in Florida for a while, my wife is a a native Floridan, from South Florida but I don't know if that makes her a Southerner? South Florida is in the south but far from the Dukes of Hazzard.
-Can't get a job anywhere if your a Yankee but Wal-Mart?
Perception is everything, I'd move on if I were you!

I am going to second the legislature as being the worst thing about the state, after all they spawned Amendment One and are now doing their best to destroy the UNC system.
