I am renting a room from a couple who have two cats. I am not keen on cats but the problem is not with them but the roommates who leave the cat food plates sit in the sink. That really grosses me out. They are sloppy housekeepers, but that is disgusting.
Fortunately I signed a six month lease. Please don't suggest that I express my concerns. I tried that on a lesser issue and they blew up, the husband especially. I fear diabetes fuels his anger.

I just remove plates from sink and leave them for the roommates to clean. I am sure I can bide my time until the lease is up. I am posting this issue to see what the consensus is about leaving dirty animal plates in the sink.

I, personally, hate any dishes in the sink; period. But cat dishes wouldn't be anymore annoying to me than other dishes. What grosses me out about cats is that they are constantly walking on the countertops and sink. Now, that is gross!

Pour dish soap on them, and run water over it.

I let our dogs lick the dinner plates when we're finished, but then they go into the dishwasher.

I also hate when my kids are lazy and leave dishes in the sink, but honestly, it doesn't really matter if they are pet dishes or people dishes.

I'm a cat person. Cats are awesome. Cat dishes are gross. You have a valid gripe.

Where would you rather they put the dirty cat plates? Leave them on the floor? Set them on the counter?

Just put a squirt of dish soap on them, run some water while you are rinsing your dish, and call it good until they wash them. No biggie.

I just pop open a can of food and set the can out for my girls. They nicely share, often leaving a bit at the bottom for the dog to lick out later. Would that work better for you?

Most people wipe off the counter before they use it for food prep anyway, so what is so gross about it?

I don't use cat dishes. I just pop the can of food open, set it down for the girls, and toss it when it's empty. One can in the morning and one at night.

Depends. How long do they leave them?
