Contrary to what many think on here, I am not a prudent individual. I understand I don't sound like a bundle of joy in these posts but that is because I utilize this forum to discuss aspects about culture that frustrate me. Nothing would be accomplished if I only articulated positive or neutral opinions on these forums. Unfortunately, you combine a slightly negative post with the domineering, opinionated people on here and the result very often leads to the poster being bashed. I see this dynamic play out on other posts as well and take no offense to it; however, it is frustrating when you just want to have a rational debate and you are faced with people trying to castrate you through text. I appreciate those of you who don't fly off the handle, and those of you who do simply illustrate the very complaints I have outlined in this post and others.
Anyway, it is difficult for young people like myself who don't care for the social climate at these places to meet people. My next course of action for the new year is to attend more meetups, outdoor trips, and volunteer exhibitions.
Because the crowds generally contain waaaay too much of both; drunk apes practically beating on their own chests and dry-humping their slutty girlfriends.
People are pretentious, it's part of human nature. They want to seem more popular, cooler, hotter then they are, or at least give the image of that. It's always been, it's nothing new.
Pretentious snobbish hipsters are one reason I don't like going to a lot of concerts these days. I have generally given up on trying to socialise at these events when I do go. I'm not going to let them spoil my day though, they've a right to act as they do.
OP - I'm with you. I started forcing myself to go out again and it's a truly a s*** show! I hate drunk people! Let's see....this past weekend two inebriated chicks fell over an expensive speaker almost knocking over a table of expensive DJ equipment. At said place, another drunken fool splattered a huge glass of beer across the wall, soaking my boots.
At another live music venue I met what seemed to be a nice, shy guy. (Aside from trying to hop in the car and go home with me.) He ended up being married with two teenagers!
I learned and saw first hand how freaking annoying hipsters are.
Guess I'm a moody old fart in my 30's! Staying home for another couple of months now...
Geez folks, lay off the guy a bit (even though yeah he does seem tending towards being a grumpy old man lol jk). I can relate to the sentiments, I mean clubbing and EDM in general is just about hedonism, so OP, if you're not into that just avoid those kind of places. There are plenty of places where people aren't like that, but I do find people these days are less social, just hanging out with their own group or using their smartphone as a shield. Part of the reason i rarely go out these days anymore myself. If i want to see a gig I just go there and watch it. If i meet someone, cool, if not it's no biggie.
But yeah they aren't good places to meet people anymore, which is a pity because they're one of the few avenues where you can mingle with a lot of people.
they are all just proving the OP's point.
i agree with the OP 100%. i can't go to a bar or clubbish type scene unless i am drunk. i go out only occasionally when i feel like i need to exit my comfort zone or do something different. otherwise, i avoid the nightlife scene for the most part for that reason. most people that go there are not worth a damn

I didn't say utilize wasn't a word. I said it was a pointless one...because it is.
maybe because you don't know how to "utilize" it
Quote:
Utilize means use. You can always write "use" instead.
so you expect everyone else to accommodate you because you think "utilize" is too big of a word for english vernacular?
Quote:
To be honest, I don't ACTUALLY care that much about people saying "utilize,"
seems like you do....otherwise why the butthurt post?
Quote:
but I do when it's a pretentious person like you who is trying to show off vocabulary skills but has no idea how language works.
thank you for insulting everyone's intelligence and being redundant. you know what pretentious means(congratulations), why do you feel need to explain it and be a condescending dick?
