You're reassured that you will see whatever you want to see and not the truth. I congratulate you on your cluelessness.

Is it acceptable? We just try not to do it in public or in front of our grandfather who doesn't find it too funny.
Anyone who interpets giving a hug to your shared blood who just happens to be the same sex as you as a sign of homosexuality is someone who needs to be slapped. I'd be happy to have a brother to give a hug to on occasion.

Then it's best to stick with a little over-the-shirt groping.

You just gave yourself up, son. Anybody moronic enough to even ask a question like this is not "grown up" enough to consider himself a "grown up". It's your brothers - why should you even care what anybody else thinks about it. Grandpa needs to look the other way or just crowd around him and give him a big group hug and let him realize what he's missing. A hug between brothers (or sisters) isn't meant to be funny or entertaining to somebody else - it's to bring comfort and joy to the people actively engaged in doing the actual hugging - no questions asked imho.....

It's just something we never used to do, not even as kids. My grandfather was born in 1930, cut him some slack.

I think as long as you slap each other on the back real hard and grunt while you're doing it, you should be fine.

Hug away! Who cares what other people think anyway? Do what feels right to you.
