Dude, Gramps is gay. That indignant self-righteousness is classic blame-shifting for what he sees as his "secret guilt," his over-compensating.

Let him know he can come clean, its ok nowadays.

what an odd question.
Your brother nearly died and you're worrying if giving him a hug is gay? who cares! He's your brother. One day you may end up regretting that u are not able to hug anymore.

I dunno, I have 2 brothers....and im a guy and I have no hesitation hugging them.. IE, if I havent seen one of them in months I'll greet them with a hug....or if departing from a family holiday and we know we wont be seeing eachother for several months, we'll hug......

I dont hug them on casual greetings tho, like if I just saw them yesterday and again today I wont hug...it's more of a special occasion type thing, but never think anything of it when I do.

I see it as ok. I hug my good friends when I see them. Family members too. If someone thinks its gay because two brothers hug that's their problem. Keep hugging your bro. Who cares what some stranger thinks. Theirs probably just mad cause they didn't get hugs

Both of my brothers hug me. They don't hug each other though. LOL

In your case, op, it is completely justified and natural for you two brothers to hug each other. I think it is very sweet.

"Gay" or "homosexuality" is defined as experiencing sexual attraction to people of the same sex as you.

So no - no action - hobby - phrase - utternce - or anything else _other than that_ is "gay".

The tactile expression of affection through physical contact is not a sexual act. So the only person making it "gay" are the ones who harbour sexual thoughts while engaging in non sexual actions.

Your grandfather sounds like a clueless stick in the mud.

Does this mean hugging your mom or sister is romantic? Ewwww. I don't even know where stupid beliefs like ths come from. Hug who you want, when you want, where you want.

Hugging isn't necessarily a sign of being gay. Good friends do it all the time!

Is it acceptable? We just try not to do it in public or in front of our grandfather who doesn't find it too funny.

Why is it such a stigma amongst certain groups of people for two males to hug each other? I see males hugging each other as a greeting and nobody bats an eye lid. Nothing 'gay' about it. It's usually just a quick hug with a pat on the back and nothing more. Completely normal behaviour.

If this thread is not a troll thread (and I actually hope it is, for your sake) then this is a new level of 'wow' for me.
