It is hugely disappointing that the chinese gov hasn't done the same to support the US when it is in the greatest need, isn't it? when he asked people to use scarves for protection, you know that the country is unable to supply the amount of masks needed, which is sad...
Trump keeps calling Xi a good friend...bragging about his friendship with him on numerous occasions, which bothers me...i know he was tough on trade deals...but why he keeps sending mixed message to the Xi gov?
because we need their cheap labor, they make 90+ of the raw chemicals used by the pharmaceutical industry, they make numerous consumer goods and electronics parts
Trump also says he has good conversations with Cuomo but then he takes shots at him like saying New York was slow to act on coronavirus (but look at what he was saying a month ago) That's his mixed style
Coronavirus Latest: Patriots Plane Brings 1.2 Million N95 Masks From China To Massachusetts
According to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the deal, Governor Charlie Baker struck an agreement two weeks ago to acquire the critically needed masks from a “collection of Chinese manufacturers,” but he had no way to get them back to Massachusetts.
So he turned to Patriots’ president Jonathan Kraft for help. Owner Robert Kraft also got involved and so did the U.S. State Department. Special arrangements had to be made to fly to China and to allow the plane to land. No one from the flight crew left the jet during the nearly three hour stop and loading process so they would not have to be quarantined in China for two weeks.
The original order was for 1.7 million masks, but only 1.2 million could fit on the plane, so the rest will be sent to Massachusetts early next week in another shipment.
In addition to helping work out all the logistics and red tape, the Kraft family paid $2 million, which came to half the cost of the masks.
“We knew that purchasing greatly-needed N95 masks and providing the Patriots plane to expedite their delivery to local hospitals would immediately help protect our courageous healthcare professionals,” Robert Kraft said in a written statement. “I truly hope that in doing so, we can in some way inspire others to find creative ways to give more in support of our doctors, nurses and first responders.”
Massachusetts Nurses Association Chairperson Trish Powers, who works at Massachusetts General Hospital, said the donation is coming just in time.
“We’re ecstatic because our supply has run very, very critically low. There’s a lot of people taking care of patients who don’t have N95s on right now or we’re using them for a week or more,” she told WBZ.
Kraft and Baker also agreed to send 300,000 of the masks to New York to help with the coronavirus crisis there. A truck will leave Massachusetts Friday with that shipment.
The flight is scheduled to land at Logan Airport Thursday afternoon.

I think that was Trump's original plan for us. Do everything possible to prevent tests to keep the numbers down and then just claim people died of the flu. He didn't get away with it but Xi, Putin, Bolsonaro and others probably will.
i noticed that trump does have a natural tendency of admiring dictator leaders and fighting his western allies......that is probably why he is so good at pushing through policies that he deems important to him...
It was a grim discovery on a subway train in the Astoria section of Queens early on Thursday morning. Passengers reported an unconscious person on an 'N' train at the Ditmars Boulevard Subway Station on 35th St.
Police got the call just before 4:30 a.m. and when they got there they found that the 62-year-old victim was dead on the floor of the train. Authorities did not indicate that coronavirus was connected to the case.
whoa.... Michigan and Louisiana just leapfrogged over Florida,Massachusetts,Illinois and Pennsylvania in one day!
And they are just a few positive diagnoses from passing California (currently in 3rd place).
A week ago,Michigan,Louisiana and Florida were barely on the radar....now they are all surging.Georgia and Texas too. Nobody is going to knock NY out of first place but all of these states look like they might give New Jersey a run for 2nd place!

that is where the big trouble is....china literally had one epicenter, but there are many epicenters blowing up in the US...that is why I liked states like RI who acted to close state borders...but under the US political system, it is not legally feasible.
Flushing and surrounding Northeast Queens is one of the least affected community in NYC. Chinese community is much more prepared than the rest of the city

Another important factor was that Kraft's son,Jonathan, is the President of The Board of Massachusettstts General Hospital. So the whole family was working on it.
there are reports that US is hijacking mask shipment from China to France by paying double or triple the prices for that "crap"
