Hello,

I am graduating in May with a BS in Psychology. I plan on getting my Master's in Guidance Counseling. How do I go about getting a job in the school system. I found some info about becoming a paraprofessional and think that may be good to get "my foot in the door" while I complete school. Are their any guidance counselors who can help me with the basics of what I need to do and what certifications I need?

Thankd so much@!

Default Para Pro

Hello- I am not from NYC, but will be relocating there next year. I have also looked into becoming a para pro while I continue my education degree, and from what I have read/been told it is actually quite difficult to get a para pro position. A teacher coworker of mine here in Chicago moved from NYC and tells me it's one of those "you have to know someone" jobs. I am not sure if this is absolutely true, and of course I will apply, but I have counted on NOT getting a job with the NYC school system this way. Sorry I wasn't much help- if anyone else has something to say about this I would appreciate it as well!
