I'm moving to Brooklyn!

I have a job in Canarsie. Now, my sister thinks I should get a place in East Williamsburg/Bushwick because it's on the L train, but I'm exploring other alternatives. Are there other convenient ways to get to Canarsie? I'm thinking of living in the Sheepshead Bay area and bike commuting along the greenway as a possibility. Or is there somewhere in Queens that's convenient? If I only really need to get into Manhattan on the weekends, there's no point in living super-close. But I don't really want to live further along the L line into East New York.

I'm looking for a studio or 1-bedroom for $950 or under, doesn't have to be a GREAT neighborhood but should be not too scary. Prefer to live alone but could deal with a roommate.

How about Middle Village Queens near the M train, then transfer to the L? Rents should be cheap around there (I think) and it is a very quiet, middle-class area. I've driven through there but dont have firsthand knowledge of the neighborhood.

consider living in carnarsie, or maybe over by starret city, you bike idea is ok in good weather but you really wouldn't want to do it on most days this time of year
