It's changed within the last 20 years as far as demographic goes. Crime wise? It's decreased in the last 20 years. Does Canarsie sometimes have shootings particularly at the Bayview and Breukelen projects? Sure, but overall the crime in the neighborhood is average and has been so for a long time. In the grand scheme of BK, Canarsie is really nothing to be called a ghetto.
This guy is a troll. He goes all over different NYC forums talking about Canarsie being a ghetto. Theres something mentally wrong with him to go to so many forums and post the same things over and over.
I would not consider Canarsie to be a "ghetto" at all. There are MANY/mostly well kept middle class type houses with good inhabitants. That said, there are some pockets of low lifes throughout the area causing trouble. But then you can have that anywhere. In Canarsie, it now is mainly black low lifes causing trouble, where 20-30 years ago, it was white low lifes doing the same.

I'd agree with most of this, the housing stock there is decent, it's kind of like the same problems that East Flatbush has, there's definitely crime, it's gritty in parts but for the most it's a decent looking area..........Breuklen isn't pleasant though.
