You beat me to it! I agree with this. I have also rode up the Westside bike path and it's beautiful. You can start all the way down in lower Manhattan and ride past the GW bridge. Might also be fun to ride over the Brooklyn Bridge and into Brooklyn some.

Thanks for your replies. Is it possible to visit all these neighborhoods in one day?

Sadly, this weekend is likely going to rain.

However, the truth is if this is your first time in NYC and it's only a couple of days, I'd recommend doing the touristy things. Chicago's touristy area is relatively small. NYC's touristy area is still small area-wise, but to cover the grounds will take you a while. It'd be a shame to come to NYC and not get a full dose of the bustling city energy. I don't think you have enough time to sufficiently branch out. Maybe a quick hop over to Brooklyn, but that'd be about it, I'd think.

Where are you staying?

Haha sounds like a fun idea.

To the OP, I recommend checking out Jackson Heights, Forest Hills, Ridgewood, and maybe Forest Park if you choose to come to Queens.

Don't forget to visit the Cloisters( medieval museum overlooking the Hudson River) set in Ft Tryon Park in upper manhattan. You can either take the A train to 190th st then up the steps to the elevator which leads you to Ft Washington Ave and make a right into the park.. follow the Channel Gardens straight to Cloisters. You may take the #4 bus along Madison Ave directly to the Cloisters ( last stop), or drive there via west side highway. Go on a sunny day.
