Is anyone a little concerned about the electricity $ issue? I'm afraid it'll make it unaffordable for me (at the $1800 price range).

My friend lives in the Hunter Point South complex. 1 bedroom, her electric bill averages $85 a month. Heat also controlled by electric and she turns it off at night.

Electricity could be an issue but it has a thermostat that could control it. I am new to this heat and central ac jazz.

But I think maybe use the heat only when I am at the apt and not when I'm there - same for the AC.

How much do you normally pay now for electric?

At the lease signing, multiple people had the same question I did about the heat. The women from langsam who were doing the lease signings were asking among themselves about the heat. One of them said it was electric. Heres the odd part though...I went to take another look at my apartment and take some measurements. While in the bedroom I noticed somebody, probably the contractors, left a small panel open right next to the heat/ac unit. Inside was some kind of pipe inside the wall leading into the unit with what looked like a shutoff valve. I'm not to familiar with piping so i couldn't identify it but my educated guess is that it was a gas pipe. I wish I would've taken a picture. I've heard of gas powered heating units that use electricity for the fan that blows the hot air out. Maybe thats what this is? I feel like the langsam people were uninformed about these kind of details, since somebody earlier here wrote that Langsam said Spectrum and Verizon, while I was told Optimum and FIOS. Might be that they are mistaken about the type of heating that was installed.

@ QUNYC...When I went to choose my apt., I was told it's powered by gas. So you are probably right about the fan using electric.
