So my sweetheart got a job at UMDNJ Newark few days ago. I work at a company at Ewing ad we currently live at Lawrenceville. Any idea from you folks about the ideal place to live? We plan to have kids in couple of year, so safty is very important. Also, it would be nice if the area is not far off from a NJT trainstation.

Edison area, probably. It's somewhat centrally-located, in the sense that it's an equally miserable commute on Rt. 1 for both of you.

Metuchen, edison or new brunswick, rahway The train can be taken to newark penn and then the light rail will take you to warren st next to umdnj.

Metuchen has good school and is expensive
Edison is hard to walk to the station and schools are ok
new brunswick schools are horrible and so are rahway's
