I worry about A Childrens Place, and I love that store.

I hope not Kirklands, my favorite decor store.

There is not a soul in some of the KMarts, I think they need to close a few more of the stores.
Sad to say...........
In these times if gift card you are better off getting a Visa, MC or Amex one

I love Macy*s, but it is not the store it used to be. Customer service is a DEAD concept there. I miss A&S, anyone remember them? I loved that store. While I think Nordstroms is overpriced and pretentious, they have Customer Service down pact, they really do!
you have to shop Nordstrom's sales..good stuff at decent prices

Someone had mentioned smaller mom/pop stores. I predict what remains of them will be gone completely in the next 2-3 years. Almost all retail will be done by way of mall and big box outlets. And as Circuit City's passing suggests, there will also be attrition and consolidation even in big retail establishments.

Circuit City files for bankruptcy protection: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance (http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/081110/circuit_city_bankruptcy.html - broken link)

Circuit City files for bankruptcy.... do you think we jinxed them???

As for VISA/MC cards...difficult to use AND if the bank issuing them goes under you can loose out there too. I'm hesitant to use them. AMEX or cash for me going forward.

I had completely forgotten about A&S! Now I'm really going to show my age, Bamburger's (sp?), Orbach's, and Two Guys. Remember any of those?

Bamburger's was Macy's east coast brand, wasn't it? Before they just called everything Macy's. I remember Two Guys. How about Rickels (sp)?
