No offense to anyone involved or who may be interested, but that sounds terrible. I might watch the opening credits to see shots of the city, but that's it.

Are destructive stereotypes part of the deal?

I have to admit, I have some reservations about it as well. If they pander to the stereotypical country image that is portrayed by NY/LA, then it will likely end up being a steaming pile of crap.

However, if they really try to apply mix story/drama with the real image, I think it could succeed (at least in my eyes. I don't give a crap about ratings).

They have the cast to pull it off. It sounds like they are at least using some locals to point them in the right direction. The biggest thing will be character development, and a storyline that lasts more than 23 episodes.

I long for the John sayles type of storytelling or the work of David Simon.

I hate to ask it guys, but why is there no way a TV series named Charlotte or Jacksonville would be put out there? Why? Because those cities have nothing to jerk around and yuk it up about other than just southerners. But Nashville has more: southerners and a wacko media generated image, like of course all kids coming up in Nashville are somehow indoctrinated into guess what: Country! Its all so Hee Haw, get it?

Charlotte could be about a NASCAR family. "I AIN'T GOIN' BACK TO SCHOOL, DADDY, ALL I WANNA DO IS RACE!" (+rep if you get the "movie" reference)

Jacksonville could be about.......I don't know...what do they do in Jacksonville?

Even if it is oversimplified, I think it is a positive that Nashville has a clearly distinguishable identity from other cities.

Of course there is more to Nashville than mainstream country music, but I think the general population thinks of Nashville as a city (and all that entails) that has a big country music industry. That is, IMO, better than being a mid-size city with no distinguishing characteristics.

Nashville would be another Louisville or Birmingham or at best Indianapolis if it did not have the identity as Music City USA.

Not sure about that. People from the coasts are not relocating to those 3 I-65 points like they are to middle TN, which has beautiful terrain, educational establishment, many white collar jobs, and blue collar ones. Plus a really nice collection of old architecture and a fine downtown and spectacular park system. None of those others have all of that.

Production trucks are parked over by East Park. They are filming in Edgefield today.
