Jane Siberry, "It can't rain all the time"
Album: The Crow soundtrack

We walk the narrow path
Beneath the smoking skies
Sometimes barely tell the difference
Between darkness and light
Do we have faith in what we believe?
The truest test is when we cannot see

Being able to relate to the domestic violence it describes; "Independence Day" by Martina McBride moves me to tears every time I hear it... And I'm also moved by many of the songs you all have posted above. I have a soft spot for patriotic songs like Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A." and "All I know" by Art Garfunkle is another one.

I remember in the '70s when "Seasons in the Sun" was out, and the "Terry Jacks Wrote it Because He Was Really Dying" myth was *thriving. So it made us even sadder.

Turns out Terry still *is! :>)

After the first few dozen listens, the tears calmed down. But Toby Keith's "Angry American" still gives extreme goosebumbs no matter how many times I hear it. That is one powerful song (and singer!)
Country ballads are seriously heavy stuff altogether.

Terry Jacks didn't write that song. Jacques Brel did.

While none move me to tears the one that gets me the closest is the theme song from the movie Deer Hunter. It's just a musical score (no lyrics) but it sends chills down my spine!

I'm not a person that cries or gets teary eyed, but if i were, the song Lonely Day by System of a Down would be the one to do it. Reminds of how I felt the moment my Mom died.

What about -"Lips of An Angel"? It makes me cry every time I listen to it. It is only for those who have deeply been in love with someone and cannot forget them. Hinder sang it and now it is Jack Ingram.

Honey, why you calling me so late
It's kinda hard to talk right now
Honey, why you crying
Is everything okay
