I saw this movie yesterday and yes there are some cool action scenes but the first one was better. It seemed to drag on at some parts and they probably could have cut out a good 15-20 minutes.

If you liked the first IRON MAN film, you'll like this one. If you didn't like the first IRON MAN film, why are you reading this thread?
Mickey Rourke was fantastic. If anything, this movie wasn't too long. It was too short. I wanted more Ivan. He was awesome.
And Natasha? Fantastic. Best chick fu I've seen since ALIAS went off the air.
And more Sam Jackson, which is an improvement to any film. And he's great in this movie.
IRON MAN 2 isn't high art. It isn't going to make you think deep thoughts about life. But it is loads of fun. Great action, likeable characters (even the villains!), and it's even funny. What more could you want in a summer popcorn flick?
I had only two complaints (both minor). One: there's a fight about halfway through the movie. It's a fun fight scene, but I thought the motivation for it was a bit weak. Seemed forced. But the resolution does contain two important plot points for the climax, so I just smiled and went with it. Two: It's going to be a whole year before the story continues! And I'm a little nervous about the next round of Marvel flicks. Captain America is being done by Joe Johnston, who is very hit and miss. He's done some great movies and some that are definitely not so great. And Thor is being done by Kenneth Branagh, who is fantastic, but Thor as a character has just never done much for me. After that, we get the Avengers, which is being directed by Joss Whedon -- another filmmaker who is very hit and miss.
We also got to see the teaser for the new J.J. Abrams movie, which looks very promising.
One thing that surprised me a bit: You know the scene in the preview where Pepper kisses the helmet, then tosses out of the airplane, and Tony dives after it? That scene isn't in the movie! Must've been from an early cut. But given the ending, I think I know why they cut it.

It was a great teaser for the upcoming movie. And I am hopeful. A tremendous cast and a great director. I hope it'll make me love the character, because even when I was 12 years old and at my comic-book geekiest, I never saw the allure of this character. Maybe the movie will change my mind.

I agree, even though I got into comics over 10 years ago I understood the importance of Thor and Asgard to the Marvel cosmology. Then again it is becoming quite obvious this is going to end with an Avengers movie, but what will they fight? Aliens? Demons? a mish-mash of all the previous villans, or better yet, the Hulk from the 2008 movie!

It seems to me that the Hulk will be the reason for the team getting together. That's actually why they assembled in the comic books.
