Three Came Home (1950); Claudette Colbert, Sessue Hayakawa.

The British colony of Borneo was taken by the Japanese during WWII. British and other Westerners were sent to concentration camps, with men and women separated. One of the families separated was that of American writer Agnes (Colbert), her British husband and their young son. Agnes and her son stay in the women's camp where she was beaten, starved and witness to other horror. But she is favored by the camp commander Colonel Suga (Hayakawa) who had read one of Agnes's books; the two bond over this and become somewhat sympathetic.

Later I found out this movie was based on a book (with the same title) about Agnes Keith's imprisonment in Borneo. I heard the book and the movie were controversial, even at the time released. What I liked about this movie is that it was a WWII movie from a woman's point of view, and that the enemy soldiers are dynamic characters. Of course the ending is predictable, but I kind of liked that too.

"Noah" Nothing to add to the original, except for the "Pet Rock" people and the birth of twins aboard a cruise ship!
