My husband and I just came back from the city, where we watched NOAH. I almost didn't go, after reading too many negative reviews, but both my husband and I enjoyed the movie. It doesn't claim to be Biblically accurate - in fact in the credits at the end, it says it's not. However, since no one but God and Noah and family really knows what happened during the 120 years from when God first told Noah to build the Ark 'til the time it came to rest on Mount Ararat (and there's plenty of debate about that being the 'landing' site too), I thought it was an interesting 'one man's vision' treatise of the deluge, and both Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly gave superb performances. The story doesn't disrespect God so the complaints I've read from Christians on line are petty, in my opinion. Good movie, and worth seeing regardless of the expression of one's faith.
I watched 'Out Of The Furnace' last night, with well known actors such as Wiliam Dafoe, Casey Affleck, Christian Bale, and Woody Harrelson. It was one of the most depressing movies I've watched in a long time. The story was good, don't get me wrong, just depressing. It's like a blanket of gloom covering the movie from start to finish. That Peal Jam song they used at the beginning and end of the movie didn't help either (can't stand their singer, ugh!).
I rented American Hustle from Red Box this afternoon for tonight's entertainment. Hopefully there's some laughter in it.
Nobody's Fool with Paul Newman.
A 1994 gem, not the least bit dated. Newman at his best, Jessica Tandy, Bruce Willis, early appearances by Philip Seymour Hoffman and Margo Martindale.
