Cinderella Man. I close my eyes during the boxing scenes, but I adore the love story, the family story, and everything to to with the Braddock family. I'm fond of depression-era movies in any case, as they remind me of where and when I was a child. It stars Russel Crowe and Rene Zellweger who both deliver outstanding performances.

My husband and I also watched Spy Game, Ice Castles, and the first two Hunger Games movies this weekend. (Our 'weekend' is Wednesday and Thursday, and we desperately need to veg by then, LOL!)

I'm just about to watch one of my 'default' (favorite) movies as soon as I close down CD for the night - Life As We Know It.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - was fine but not as cool as my friends make it out to be. Long and the short of it is a guitarist wants to date a girl but has to gothrough all of her exs and beat them as if they are the boss of a video game level. It's good but I don't get it as much as friends do.

First, Mansome: A doc about humorous, semi-ironic doc about male grooming and the increasing vanity of post-industrial men. Would've been more interesting if they went for a little more sociology and a little less schtick, but at its heart it touches on what I feel is compelling issue: the lives of a generation of men who've grown up into a society that they feel has almost nothing to offer them.

And then, Pumping Iron: An excellent follow up. Many people seem to think of Arnold as a sort of lucky oaf, but this could not be further from the truth.

Just finished watching the original Superman. The special effects are a little dated, but it's still a good movie.

Lone Survivor. Geez...hard to believe these guys were trained Navy Seals!! Where was the
common sense? Very poor decision making, IMO. They should have shot the goat herders. Period.

And someone could have simply shot the herders himself, then told the commanding officer: "when we get back, go ahead and have me court-marshaled, at least you'll be alive to even have me court marshaled."

And who leaves the last known coordinate location, then walks into a no-communication zone leaving no status report at the 2 hour window, and no access to back up or extraction???? I can't fathom what they were thinking. At the very least, no shot taken on the designated target, when he was in range??

Fail, Fail, Fail. 2 unarmed squads in the chopper, why unarmed?? Why didnt the Lt. Commander not report in after 2nd com. window passed??

This was a completely avoidable tragedy. So many bad decisions by so many people. Hard to watch knowing this was based on a true story.
