Beyond Borders - starring Angelina Jolie (sp?) and Clive Owen. I suppose I've watched this one more than should be legally allowed, but seriously, I believe it should be required viewing for every high school kid. It's a love story set in the unvarnished reality of hunger relief and other NGO operations. Do you know that there are over 75 million unexploded land mines buried under the ground we walk on? Most of their victims are non combatants. Do you know that there are still over 50 million refugees in the world - most of them starving? Both facts are true, but neither one needs to be, and I think our kids need to know it. Imagine a generation committed to world peace, eradicating hunger, social equality, and plain old fashioned humanitarianism (AKA - loving thy neighbor). Promoting this movie would go a long way towards making that a reality....

There's another movie 'out there' that's in a class of its own. It is to movies what Meryl Streep is to acting, Maria Callas to opera, and Baryshnikov to ballet. It's called The Flowers of War. Anyone seen it?

Love,

Mahrie.

Tears of the Sun w/Bruce Willis

Very good - about war torn Africa. Amazing how cruel people can be towards others.

As Tears Go By << Nice 80's film, though violent. I have to finish up watching the rest by that director. (Wong Kar-wai)

Watching Ship of Fools sounds really good right now, picklejuice!

Watched "The Wolverine" yesterday. Quite okay.

Agree, I thoroughly enjoy this show. "Hannibal" is very well done and the new season starts up this coming Friday the 28th on NBC.
