"Die Welle" ( "The wave") fantastic German Film about how easily socially manipulated people can be and the consequences of "unity" and a blind obedience to the "herd". An intelligent and well acted film. Based on a true story which happened in California I think. A very potent reminded of how malleable most of us can be when it comes to it. Very powerful film.
'Demonlover' has an excellent plot, great actors & beautiful cinematography. Unusual story I haven't seen before. The title is misleading (it sounds like a bad sci-fi flick)... it's the name of a website & involves several companies trying to acquire rights to corner the Japanese adult video game market & strange links discovered to real-time torture websites. (Fear not, I didn't just give it all away).
Movie is in English, mostly French & Japanese & involves company espionage, backbiting corporate employees complete with twists & turns & subplots you don't see coming. I've seen it multiple times & watched it again this weekend. There's a bit of nudity with several quick but explicit sex scenes, for those who are sensitive & the subject matter isn't for kids. It definitely keeps layering suspense with a thriller aspect & you often have no idea who can be trusted or if there are any good guys involved. (Nope, I still didn't give it all away).
For some trivia, the beautiful actress Connie Nielsen plays one of the leads... she's Metallica's Lars Ulrich's 2nd wife. Chloe Seviny also stars with the wonderful French actor, Charles Berling who gained 30-lbs & shaved his head for the role to make himself more "repulsive" as he puts it. It worked. Gina Gershon plays a smaller role, but as usual, is memorable & devious.
Of course, I don't know how to list the fancy, schmancy Mooseketer YT links... show off!
Chronicles of Narnia Voyage of Dawn Treader - GREAT!! I was raised on these books and still keep the collection in our bookcase.
My grandchildren grew up with the books, audio, and the original movies produced by Paul Stone and directed by Alex Kirby...done in 1988. It's part of our wholesome movie and book collection.
