Just saw The Hangover II this afternoon. It definitely had its funny moments, but it was a drag compared to the first one. With all due respect to the producers, anyone would (should) agree that a sequel would be hard to beat the original. This one was a LOT raunchier.
I won't go into details. Just think twice about watching it with the folks.....
"The way" , a small American film directed and written by Emilio estevez with Martin Sheen. I absolutely loved this little gem of a film. Poignant without being sentimental and testament that the art of story-telling is still alive and well. I would recommend it to anyone who likes understated, quiet films with a good script and great acting.
I also saw "Hangover 2", very raunchy and several jaw dropping scenes! It wasn't as disappointing as I thought it would be compared to the first one, I can tell the producers tried to keep it within the scope of the first one. Not as funny as the first but not a total let down either!
"The Life Before Her Eyes" starring Uma Therman. A woman tries to come to grips with the masaquer at her HS 15 years earlier. What a good movie! The ending had me going "Wow!" for minutes after.
Sliding Doors - If possible I love this move more and more each time I watch it.
I feel exactly the same about this movie. Sometimes Gwyneth can get on my nerves, but I loved her in this, too. It's a really enjoyable film.

... John Hannah in this was just a love...
Again, I agree. I was in bed ill for a few days watching Netflix streaming. Saw 4 Weddings & a Funeral... first movie I saw Hannah in when it first came out so long ago. Aside from Hugh Grant, Hannah was the only other actor I remembered being in the film & he had one of the smallest roles.
"Biutiful" with Javier Bardem. In Spanish, about Barcelonian slums, a dying man raising his 2 kids & the many illegal dealings in which he's enmeshed. The story & acting are good, but it's one of the few movies I ever turned off because it was so bloody depressing. Scene after scene of desolate poverty, slave workers, filthy surroundings, sickness, his slow demise... I'm depressed just writing about it.
I got through 1/4, then began FF'ing... took 10-min more to make it to the end. So, would I recommend it? No... it's well done but with a very strong warning that you may want to toss yourself onto the floor in a sobbing heap 1/2-hr in. The fact that the ending breaks your heart is even more gut wrenching. Definitely have to be psyched up to see this one. I'm going to roll up in the fetal position now & try to make the bad go away... might have to watch Birdcage... Nathan Lane will laugh me out this deep, cavernous grim.
