I like John Leguizamo too.
He has not gone completely unappreciated. link
Loved him in Julie Newmar, Birdcage, and his voice work in Ice Age.
As for the Oscars in 2008: I'm thinking The Dark Knight. But there are several films I have not seen.

Rachel gets Married
A friend saw the pre-screening of this movie. His take...."I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats!!!!" (points for those who know where we got that quote!) He actually stuck his neck out and said, "Don't be surprised if Anne Hathaway gets nominated!"
Not to spoil it.
Anne Hathaway comes back to society for her sister's wedding. The family issues simmer to the surface with hilarity and heartbreaking dialogue. Under the helm of Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, and The Manchurian Candidate(to name a few)), you know the characters will be breath-taking and heart felt in their performances.

Slumdog Millionaire
Like "Juno", "Slumdog Millionaire" is a comedy, but it's so much more. The film asks so many questions about righteousness, greed, and fate. Set in the urban sprawl of a city in India, Jamal's life, seen through his eye's, seems bleek and full of despair. At the same moment it show's the beauty and hope for another. With the vast color of India overwhelm any feelings, and Jamal's hope of finding and being with Laika overwhelm despair. It would be impossible for there to be five better pictures this year!

December 17, 2008 is the highly anticipated movie, "The Wrestler", to hit theaters. It stars Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei. The story is about a washed-up wrestler in search for his second chance in life. For us, as the audience, it's the comeback for Mickey. Remember, all the critics in the 80's proclaimed him as the next Robert DeNiro of our time.
