...Denzel Washington for his performance on Training Day. To me, the primary reason he won is because he (over)played against type. I didn't find his role to be anything but that of a stereotypical hyperbad villain - not a complicated character at all.
Any other actor(esses) who you think didn't deserve an Oscar? Why?

I agree with you re: Training Day, but after watching "Flight" I think he deserved the Oscar for a splendid piece of work. Great pathos and angst combined. The addiction parallels were spot-on.

''Forrest Gump'' over ''Pulp Fiction''? ''Crash'' over ''Brokeback Mountain''? ''Gandhi'' over ''E.T.''

Cate Blanchett as Elizabeth was robbed of her well deserved Oscar by that insufferable Gwhiney Paltrow. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so as there are tons of articles online about this upset.

Thank you ! Finally someone who agrees with me on this. It is as though Paltrow is a sacred cow who cannot be criticised too often. How she has got elevated to the ranks of great actress is beyond me. She ruined Shakespeare in Love IMO. And according to my Husband even naked was the most boring, wooden creature on the planet !

I cannot stand Gwyneth Paltrow ( I actually think she is a terrible, terrible actress) and Cate Blantchett is simply a superb actress who deserve much better recognition. Both on stage and screen.

I thought Emmanuelle Riva deserved the Oscar but I did not see "Silver Linings Playbook" so I cannot be truly objective about Jennifer Lawrence. She was wonderful in "Winter's Bone" though.

"Argo" was a very good film but not as good as "Amour", "Lincoln" or "The Master" in my opinion. A little overhyped methinks.

Helen Hunt for As Good as it Gets. Everyone knew it should've gone to Judi Dench for Mrs Brown but instead they gave Dame Judi a supposed consolation Oscar for her 8 minutes in Shakespeare in Love. Gaaah!

Whoopi Goldberg robbed back in the 80s. She totally nailed the role of Celie in The Color Purple. Lost to Geraldine Page

Jodi Foster for Nell. Got beat out by Jessica Lange

IMO he won for Training Day because he did not for Malcolm X, Philadelphia (not even a nomination for that one!!??) or The Hurricane, all superb performances.

Cuba Gooding, Jr.'s win was the posterchild for overplaying against type.

I think I deserved an Oscar for my performance as an online "troll" on a few threads but never got the recognition I was hoping for.
Later on, they gave me infractions for my performance on some other threads but I felt I was robbed in some way.
