Not bad for a pre space race sci fi flick. Lots of old stuff in it (though for 150 years or so, you would hope we had gotten further), a good get away "from the old days". A 5.6.
Nothing makes everything is forgiven like success! It does have one guessing to the end but at least here, one sees the culprit enough.....even if the apparent obvious isn't always true in reality. A 8.4.
Fairly entertaining for what it is. Held my attention through out, nice beef cake torture, delectable damsels in distress, gorgeous femme fatales, and a few throw away blondes. A nice get away, say a 7.5.
Blue Thunder (1983). I still can't believe they were allowed to fly under those bridges on the L.A. River, as well as in between closely spaced office buildings.
This is streaming on AMAZON PRIME this month. If anyone has never seen it, check it out. You'll be glade you did for the following reasons:
1. It's a great movie, an under appreciated '80s classic. Although the movie came out in '83, what it says has a lot to do with the War on Terror and the Surveillance State. So much so that I'm more than a little surprised we haven't had a remake yet.
2. Roy Scheider saves the day. Remember when adults were heroes in movies?
3. Malcolm McDowell is his usual charmingly sinister self.
4. Daniel Stern is yet again goofy and lovable.
5. "There was once a god who walked the Earth, and his name was Warren Oates." (Richard Linklater)

6. It was filmed in 1980.
7. Scheider and McDowell became good buddies during the making of the film.
8. The film's cinematography make it look ahead, not of, its time. Very well done.
"Midsommar" - 2019 - very creepy movie about a deadly pagan cult - similar to "Wicker Man".
