On the one hand, it's hard to sympathize at all with Disney, who by all accounts are the ones being the royal buttheads in this whole deal.

On the other hand, I have zero confidence that future Sony films will be any good. Their last attempt at a Spidey flick was horrible. Venom was bad.

It seems to me that this is a big game of chicken, and both sides are betting the other will swerve first.

Spiderman has a lot of bad guys at his disposal unless they all belong to Disney.

Is Disney that strap for cash that they botched this partnership or do they want Sony to fail and sell them Spidey?

I agree that Venom was horrible. Not sure how you can screw up a movie about a comic book character!! You have all the source materials, die-hard fans, etc.

Sadly it would seem Sony is more in it for the money and could careless about the content of said movies.

Venom actually started out a pretty decent technothriller. And then Venom showed up. and the movie completely fell apart. It became Flash Gordon, only without a Queen soundtrack to redeem it.

Explain how Sony's "more in it for the money" and Disney is not, when the latter is constantly doing the waltz with slate bloat.

Contentwise, neither studio is necessarily doing better than the other. But what Sony HAS done in the past is give us two great Spider-Man films, while the two Iron Spider-Kid flicks we just got are utterly dispensable. My Spider-Man doesn't have a Stark Industries heating system built into his duds.

Agree/disagree? Did they leave anyone else out?

Not buying into Iron Man theory.
