I don't either. I was more excited by Hawley's involvement than a Doctor Doom movie. I love Doctor Doom, but he is one of those characters like Wolverine or Darth Vader or Hannibal Lecter where I don't really want to know the intimate details of his background and personal life. He's more interesting as an enigma.

Sadly, I think you're probably right. And until the movies start fizzling out at the box office, I doubt much will change.

That's not why a Doctor Doom movie is on hold. Look what happened to Anakin Vader.
They'll save the unfurling for the inevitable FF movies.
