Oh, and Richard the Lionheart? He was known as Richard CÅ“ur de Lion because he barely spoke any English at all - like the English aristocracy of the time, his first tongue was French. Many lords in Britain spoke no English at all. And the king certainly didn't speak in the Scottish accent that Sean Connery used in the film!
It seems odd to place such importance upon the use of the 'right' modern accent when the use of any modern accent for the period (~800 years ago) is historically inaccurate.
