Does anyone find it odd that it released in Asia first? For that reason alone I won't be seeing this movie. Tired of the U.S being treated like 2nd class citizens.
So how many movies get released in Asia first to make you so tired of it? Did it only take this one time?
I think it's more likely that they got a Chinese release date early, probably because the major producer is Chinese--I don't know, but I suspect there's some angle like that to have gotten those skids greased.

Studios produce movies to make money. China is the world's largest economy (or second largest, depending on whose figures you use). It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out why Hollywood is marketing their movies in China.

Excuse while I step away from my desk to lmao.
Okay. Back. So, you have an issue with the USA being treated like a "second class citizen" because a big budget feature gets released in Asia before it's released stateside...
Did you stop watching Marvel's movies? Because they all pretty much debut overseas before they open here. That goes all the way back to the first Avengers movie, where Kevin Smith and Jay Mewes commented on seeing it while they were doing a gig in Australia. They made a visual gesture for Hulk swinging Loki around like a rag doll to avoid a spoiler for those of us back here.
The reason Aquaman opened in China first is because China REQUESTED it. Yes. Really. They figured Aquaman would be less competition for their home-grown productions, and they quickly found out they were wrong. The movie should bank 300 million before this weekend.

I know sometimes they have to wait a while before getting an opening in China--my understanding is that a lot depends on how deep the Chinese were involved in the production.

As you were.
Yes any American movie that comes out in Asia before the U.S then I wont be watching it. These are American comic book movies and its my right to do so.

Marketing their movies is one thing but releasing a movie 2-3 weeks before the U.S is absurd. You have to look at the bigger picture here. Our cars, movies, tv shows, jobs etc will be coming from China.

It was shown in the US weeks before it went to China.
