RIP Blockbuster. I know it's more convenient going online or right through the TV but there was something cool about going to thew video store, Thumbing through the boxes and grabbing chips and salsa on the way home to watch the film. I remember the old school mom and pop video stores too. They had lots of out of print and hard to find films and I loved em!

I still have my old Blockbuster rental card.
I think I'll hang on to it for posterity.

The few stores that are not owned directly by Dish Network but by other franchises will remain open. In my area Grand Forks ND and Bemidji MN Blockbuster stores will remain open and unaffected.

One thing I'll miss with video stores is walking around in one and stumbling on a dvd about whatever that catches my attention. I've come across many interesting dvds I didn't know were out there just by looking around a video store. I'll miss stumbling on dvds like that.

I haven't been in a Blockbuster in years. I use to get used video games but that's all at the end. Services like Neflix where you can stream that instant or Redbox where you get the dvd on a trip and then can return them anywhere rather than at the same franchise you bought it at.

Are we becoming less and less into human interaction, perhaps. But Blockbuster didn't adjust until it was too late and not viable anymore. They got complacent and complacency kills companies.

Agree with everything, including human interaction.
If I'm at a store with self check out like Home Depot or Ikea has,
I choose it every time over dealing with a cashier.

Complacency for sure....just like Blackberry, here today, gone tomorrow.

I just want the quickest way. If I have only a few items, a self-checkout kiosk is fine, however CDs or DVDs and over-sized packages aren't a good idea to self-checkout in my opinnion

Because Blockbuster lost to Netflix and Redbox because they didn't have something like online streaming.
