He was the lead actor in Dist 9 , the one who accidentally infected himself and began to turn.thought he was amazing in that. However, found this movie long, drawn out and easily forgettable.
It will get lost in this summers string of movies.
I actually watched District 9 and still can't remember him in that movie. It's not so much as his accent (althought that makes it worse) but it's just his voice. Have you ever watched Will Ferrell's Saturday Night Life portrayal of 'The Old Prospector' with no teeth? If not, google it. His voice sounded like that.. thin and annoying.
It's not bad, but the political agenda is too obvious and ruined the beauty of the film.

Why are repubs so defensive about a little movie? Jeez, you and Limbaugh all share the same brain? Even though such claims are not presented, the movie just happens to portray the Republican vision for America - own up to it.
It's really telling how the right wing gets so defensive out of the blue - which only means that somehow it inadvertently hits home. Strange ain't it?
Embrace your ideals and state them proudly instead of hiding them. Can you not figure out that the world depicted is simply that of a libertarian plutocracy?
Embrace it and explain to everybody why it is a good system - you know, the "cream" of society, left unfettered, rises to the top - as it "should". Explain to everybody why the Earth-dwelling "riffraff" are really the ungrateful bad guys.
As far as plot goes, it was mostly just video-game-like nonstop action with a rather thin script. Could have been better, but that's the reality of today's adolescent gaming mentality which has overtaken a slice of the movie industry.

I don't want to spend 10 dollars watching propaganda. That's it.
If you like propaganda movies North Korea is the best place.

Don't remember him?
The movie Dist 9 was based around his story.he was a govt worker who began to turn into one of the creatures and was going to be dissected alive at one point. He still left hand made gifts on his wifes doorstep.
He was nominated for his memorable roll, think it was golden globe.

Basically you object to a message you don't happen to like. That's very interesting.
The very fact that you hate to see a depiction of ordinary citizens overcoming a plutocracy speaks volumes about your real-world views. Sounds like you aspire to be on Elysium, or believe you belong there, eh?
Oh, and in your RW mind, socialist North Korea is a place to see such awful "propaganda" as plutocracy defeated? In other words, without plutocracy we have "socialism"?
I am really wondering why conservative panties are so tightly wadded over this little film.
What is it about the message that you don't approve of?

(1) Usually I don't watch Foxnews either.
(2) I'm not white.
In your own words please, what about the movie specifically makes it "liberal propaganda"? Is being anti-oligarchy "liberal" or "socialist"?
Personally, I agree with the underlying premise that plutocracy is evil, so where do you disagree and what ideologically did you find disturbing enough to detract from your enjoyment of the film?
I don't see this as propaganda. Just a possible (probable?) depiction of a future. Isn't that what all sci fi is?
You are exactly right. Sci-fi, like other literature, often has social commentary and political undertones. Remember "1984" and even "Blade Runner"? They are often warnings about the future. Some people take notice, and that is not desired by certain special-interests with agendas of their own.
