Sad, yes, but uplifting as well because of the depiction of loyalty by the dog to his master. The true story of Hachiko took place in Japan and the master was a professor who traveled to the college each day. The true Hachiko waited in vain for almost 10 years for his master to return, living on the streets and returning to the railway station every day. He died in 1935 and they erected a statue of him at the Shibuya train station.

Such a bittersweet film. Knowing that there is a sculpture of that loyal dog in the train
station in Japan, allows future generations to remember Hachi.

I keep hearing about this movie. I loved Joan Allen in The Contender (2000), Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993), Manhunter (1986). Did I mention I love Joan Allen's work?

If you like English spoken or American made movies, probably Hachi, Marley and Me or Old Yeller be the top 3.
If you don't mind subtitles or like Asian movies, then check out "10 Promises to My Dog" or "Hearty Paws".

Best In Show.

No dog died, and it's a hilarious look into the goings on of dog shows. It's more true to life than you might think. Having once been active in that world, I laughed myself silly. I knew every one of those types in real life.
