Here's how you know spring is really here. The road and street crews bring out the summer mix of bitumen to fill the potholes. They only make temporary patches so long as they think winter hasn't hit the area for the last time. And then Road Construction, our second season, gets serious, too. So instead of snow impeding traffic, orange pylons and barriers impede traffic. That's the real Minnesota Experience.

It was weird for me to be using the snowblower in broad daylight at 7.30pm yesterday. Usually I'm doing that in twilight at best.

In Chicago, they have floods. Say, didn't someone once call them "the boys of summer"? As if summer is a better season for playing baseball?

Today it says "A chance of rain and snow before 1pm, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 44. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible" 1 to 3 inches with a high of 44 suggests realtime melting to me. Still is fun in the last week of April. We're really pushing it out the limit this year!!!

This morning we left early and arrived up at Gooseberry State Park, had a lovely picnic lunch, out on the flats on the picnic tables, then later had an hour nap on the beach next to Lake Superior listening to the waves rolling in, Canada Geese honking and feeling the wonderful warm sunshine's warmth through our jackets, what a great way to spend an afternoon. Not a cloud in the sky, not too hot not too cold, eagles and deer aplenty.
