We will be in the Milwaukee area for a wedding this weekend. We have time on Saturday to take a driving tour to show our children Milwaukee prior to the late wedding. Starting from our hotel in Brookfield at I94, what route would you suggest?

94 East to the Lakefront, 15-20 minutes. Take Lake Drive North about 3-5 miles. You can stop multiple places. I'd suggest a couple. One, Wahl Ave on Milwaukee's East Side, for the views and green space. It's a short/small little Ave. I'd also suggest Atwater Park in Shorewood which is on N Lake Drive. It has a beach and playground for small children. You will pass some historic places, as well as what many believe to be one of Milwaukee's best attributes, the Lower East Side. You will drive along 100 foot bluffs in some spots overlooking Lake Michigan.

I'd traverse Hwy 32 up and down the lake.

Fishtacos & Ron Burgundy Thank You! We will head toward the lake and check out the city from that viewpoint.

Stay on Lake Drive North, start on the Lower East Side near downtown and you can go many miles and see lots of things, from $25 million mansions, to the hundred plus foot bluffs, to cute little parks, green space, beaches, you name it. I'd also recommend Lake Park which is next to Wahl Ave as a place to stop to go along with Atwater Beach in Shorewood. I'm not from Milwaukee originally but lived in Milwaukee many years, and this is no doubt the first thing I can recommend someone who is taking a drive, new to town. The architecture of the Art Museum at the Lakefront is where you could start your drive, and head N on Lake Drive.

We had a good time in Milwaukee. Went over the harbor bridge and along the lakefront. Stopped at several parks to check out the shoreline and bluffs. Drove into Shorewood to check out where the other side lives, the well to do side. All in all a good visit and the wedding was a good time too.
