So I've heard. I don't go up that way to fish much. Too many good lakes in Oakland county.

I also get up around Kalkaska quite a bit. We have a place up there.

This is what is so great about Northwestern Michigan. Tons of snow from lake effect for winter sports and gorgeous sunshine for weeks on end in the summer

You're crazy. I don't mind winter at all. In fact, I'd rather it be in the 20's than 40 degrees. But 7 below is a bit extreme. I can feel my eyeball fluid coagulating when I go outside.

Your soo lucky. I remember years, and years ago we had to chase the lake effect snow cause we wanted to snowmobile. I had never seen lake effect snow and when it hit I was absolutely amazed! We listened to the forcasts, and waited for the snow when we finally arrived. There was no snow at that point, but after an hour we had 5 inches! Ever since, I have wanted to live in a lake effect area. I hope to move south of the Traverse City area in a year or two. My brother and I are snow freaks! Constantly texting each other when a storm is coming about our predictions. We used to do predictions when we were little and had a mini weather station.

Why waste your time........Come on up to the UP , we got lots of the white stuff , always. ( and , its dry powder mostly , great for winter sports ).
Note; The further you go south , the more chance of lake Effect , but , also more clouds. I lived in South Haven , lots of snow , but , never sunny, couldn't wait to move up here....

I would love to, but my wife needs to be near the larger hospital systems.
Plus, I work from home and imagine shipping my products would be crazy expensive from there.
