Another thing is storing pop out in the garage and always being cold.

Also I find useful is knowing if the mail came or not because of the footprints of snow leading to the mailbox. I don't have to open the door and go out in the cold to keep checking.

You know the part of the road where it seems like they ran out of blacktop and there is a little gap where they started the next truck? Kind of gets a small mound all the way across the lane? I counted ( and lost count ) at 117 of them between 6 and 7 mile on Beck. Not to mention the pot holes and other bumps I hit.

That's frost heave.....but yeah, I know what that feels like. Miserable. We get it pretty bad up here.

There are to many best things about winter in Michigan to pick just one thing.
No hot muggy heat.
No biting blood sucking bugs.
No loud music blaring from the lake down the road.
No kids driving by our 400 feet off the road home rattleing the windows with their bass.
No horse riders tresspassing like they own all the land not fenced in.

Then there are the really great things.
The sun is shineing so bright this morning it is just beautiful.
the bright red male cardinals are all puffed up by the creeks wild dog wood bushes so bright in the sun shine.
Cross country sking but not enough snow for that today.
A nice walk in the woods with the pups works though.
Snowmobileing when there is enough snow with friends and neighbours.
A roast what ya bring bonfire at lunch time with the above is great too.
Meeting on a big hill in the area then doing the all day sleding party is so much fun.
for those who like it sitting on a frozen lake on a day such as today with sun shine and little wind is a great way to spend the day.
With the scant snow even hardy golfers with bright colored balls will find the courses non crouded.

Aye more than one great thing about winter in Michigan.

Snow that goes "crunch" instead of "slop".
The "diamond" snow that glistens.
Chatting with your neighbors as you clean your sidewalks and driveways.

I like the occaisional clear nights we with snow on the ground...when the night sky and the moonlight are so amazing that you don't even notice that you're freezing. I love winter!
