Maybe you have poor circulation. Do you exercise at all?

Again , there are two Michigans. I live in Marquette, we have Marquette Mtn ski complex. It's packed all winter, and the bus traffic brings skits from Downstate and Chicago/ Milwaukee/ Green Bay. The Copper Country has My Bohemia , and over to the west , Ironwood has several slopes. That area is very popular with folks from Chicago and MPLS. Again lots of busses. Cross country is quite popular here along with snowshoe trails as well. Winter sports are what Upper Michigan is all about.......and , off the beaten path ? Well yes, but we are still in the Midwest, where else is better ? We are not Colorado , not a fair comparison. Today we had our first snow event, 1-4 inches in places. The big news is 65 MPH winds off the Big Lake. There were 25 foot waves rolling in and , beleave it or not , several brave wet suit surfers out there riding the rollers !!........by the way Tue I head for a place called Boulder on the Wild Colorado in my Coach , trailer in tow with trusty Porsche 911 on board , can't wait !

Michigan was wonderful as a child. I loved the weather changes, endless lakes to visit. Blizzards, Hail, Sun, Wind, Rainbows. Each side of the state and the UP are VERY different so its hard to put MI in one category. I live between the corn fields. It feels much more like Indiana [ Now if we only paid IN/OH auto insurance premiums $$] My negativity runs from the lack of Jobs in rural areas. Driving an hour in MI is doable but seasonal. I-94 on days like today is dangerous!!

It really depends on what you want and you preferences:

Shopping or fishing?

Bar Hopping or Canoeing/camping?

Do you want to take care of 1 or more acres of land, or prefer to have no more than 5000 - 10,000 s.f. to mow/water/ plant?

Do you like trees or do they annoy you with all their messiness? Or do you like to look at concrete things and corn?

Do you enjoy driving (I mean actually driving with the car moving and you paying attention to what is going on around you), or do you prefer to stand on a train, or sit in a bus and let someone else drive?

Do you like looking at rivers, lakes streams and forests, or endless fields of corn?

Do you want waterfront and a dock and/or your own boat, or do you prefer to just go rent something once in a while?

Pigs or deer?

How comfortable are you in a crowd?

Do you have asthma?

Do you prefer shooting for recreation or for self defense?

It depends on where you live in eather place. Chicago lake front in a plush hi rise .......great Chicago experience, living downtown on the best waterfront in the Country !

Any place North in Mi. , it gets better once you cross the MAC ! The Upper Michigan is a world apart from anywhere in the Midwest ! .....and , when you retire winters in the SW are perfect !
