Completely agree with the previous post.

Teachers and nurses are among the most respectable professions. Their struggle is real.

I have zero sympathy for the guy with a $1.8 million housing budget who can't get everything he wants.

The news says somewhere in Arizona will build condos specifically for teachers. That might be a good thing.

seems like there are all these plans to take care of people who can't afford the prices as well. That's nice that teacher will get help but what about everyone else who spends a huge portion of their income on a roof over their heads?

What about the thousands of unskilled, uneducated workers crossing the border everyday with young families? They won't be getting hired at any tech/biopharma company upon their arrival. They won't be able to be a teacher or a nurse anytime soon either. I foresee things getting worse with real estate/housing.

For people from most other countries, living in a SFH is not the norm. When I was in Switzerland, all my colleagues lived in some apartment/flat, and very few had a car. That is one of the richest countries in the world.

Immigrants with a low level of education tend to live together in some "undesirable neighborhood" too, where the price is not very high.

Isn't your solution not to build more housing, but to make MA a less desirable place to live?

At this point that might be what it takes to lower prices. Destroying forests and wildlife seems like a short term solution that will make things uglier. There are many other places in the US and the world besides Boston.

And most of them are getting more crowded and/or expensive. It's inevitable. We can either accept it and try to cope better, or continue down the denial path.

so we just go ahead and destroy wildlife to accommodate more people? There's plenty of places in the US that are not overpopulated. Why not try and make those places more desirable?

South America is a beautiful country, no one wants to focus on making that whole continent a better place to live.

There are lots of places doing this and some are building housing for firefighters and police officers as well. But teacher housing is a priority. In AZ, more than 25% of teacher jobs are unfilled right now with low pay being noted as an issue as well as poor morale and low respect from students and parents.

Luckily, the latter have the ability to pick up overtime regularly which is not an option for a teacher.

There's also nothing stopping you from moving to those less crowded places. Northern Maine is mostly empty, and lots of wildlife to go around. Even as more people discover it, (unlike near a major city) there is little to no chances of it becoming overcrowded in our lifetimes.
